Week 6 Yam Paste aka 'Orr Nee'

Last week i mention about changing my post date.
I will change it to
Wednesday
and
Thursday.
Today i feels like doing some dessert for my family.
Yesterday my mum brought a yam so i'll make it into my monster!
Muahahahahahhaa
Ahem so here we go!

Ingrdient
Yam
Ginko[Bai Guo]
Waterchestnut
Sugar
Tapioca Starch

First

Clean the Yam

Second

Dice the yam for easier steaming

Third

Clean the waterchestnut

Fourth

Chop the chestnut into fine

Fifth

While waiting for the yam to be steam

Halves the ginko to throw away the seed
As the seed cause bitterness.

6th

Boil a cup of water to make syrup

7th

Add in ginko when the water is boiling
and cook for 5minutes/10minutes [dry]

8th

Add in finely chopped water chestnut

8th

Add in tapioca starch and sugar to taste
The mixture must be abit sticky not too watery

9th

This is the outcome after mashing the yam
I used a blender to blend it so looks like this.

This dessert is actually teochew cuisine
Some people might not like it as the yam smell is quite strong
If it is too strong for you add more sugar to it to combat
The yam smell.
Happy Desserting
